Access to the programme
Open admission, subject to the evaluation of minimum curricular requirements.

Quota reserved to non-EU students residing outside Italy: 40 seats, of which 15 are reserved for Chinese students living in China, under the Marco Polo Project.

Admission requirements
Admission to the programme requires the possession of the minimal curriculum requirements and an adequate personal preparation. Furthermore, the possession of a certificated knowledge of English language at level B2, at least, is required.

Admission with international qualification
Applicants with international qualification must have obtained a bachelor’s degree that is the result of at least 3 years of study. The preliminary evaluation of the qualification is mandatory. Procedures and deadlines are available on the dedicated online platform.
International qualification will be evaluated by the designated teaching committee after the pre-evaluation procedure carried out on the online platform.

Course overview
Master’s degree graduates are able to deal confidently with the main economic and financial issues with solid theoretical, quantitative and legal preparation. It is divided into three sections, two of which are taught entirely in English.
The “Economics-QEM” module (taught in English) focuses on in-depth study of economic issues, in both a microeconomic and macroeconomic context, and quantitative methods for the theoretical and empirical analysis of these issues. Students of this module can participate in the Erasmus Mundus programme (QEM).
The “Economy and Finance” module (taught in Italian) and “Finance” module (taught in English) provide students with specialist knowledge in financial markets, the main areas of management of financial intermediaries (credit, finance, treasury, securities, organisation, planning and control) the management of financial investments and the measurement and management of financial risks, financial advice and insurance, supplementary pension schemes and the management of pension funds, the organisation of the internal processes and the administrative management of banks and financial intermediaries in general.
Students of the "Economy and Finance" and "Finance" modules can participate in double degree programmes, the Bloomberg Lab and Bloomberg courses and other associated courses, as well as earn CFA and AIAF (Italian Society of Financial Analysts) certification.

Occupational profiles
The main professional opportunities for graduates specialising in economics are:

  • economist at research centres, including at universities, and national and international bodies and in companies that operate on international markets; consultancy companies, non-profit organisations, the authorities regulating and protecting competition and markets, economic publications and companies that operate on international markets and therefore need experts who can understand the macro-economic dynamics to translate them into effective business tactics and strategies.
  • operational roles in the support of analysis and decisions in economic intervention agencies (local, national and supranational authorities, ministries and economic bodies) or in support structures and institutions for market operators (consultancy centres, research and business marketing offices).

In the case of specialisation in finance, the professional opportunities are:

  • commercial banks, investment banks, insurance firms or other financial institutions;
  • mutual investment funds, pension funds, insurance portfolios, hedge funds; asset management, treasury of non-financial companies, debt collection agencies;
  • supervisory authorities, independent administrative authorities in general and management companies of organised markets;
  • consultancy firms:
  • self-employment subject to qualification, where required by the laws in force.

Examination assessment and graduation
The educational activities include classroom teaching, workshops and internships (even abroad), in order to acquire wide-ranging skills that can be readily transferable into the world of work.
During the whole university career, the various skills and knowledge acquired by students will be assessed through written and oral examinations.
The degree exam consists in writing a thesis, which must possess the characters of originality, exhaustive documentation and scientific investigation and which will be discussed with a committee of university professors and experts.
