Access to the programme
Open admission.

Quota reserved to non-EU students residing outside Italy: 6 seats, of which 4 are reserved for Chinese students living in China, under the Marco Polo Project.

Admission requirements
To access the course, a previous suitable background is required. Each curriculum requires specific knowledge, which the student should have before enrolling the university in order to attend the course successfully. This knowledge may be verified before enrolling.

If the result of the test is negative, the student can enroll, but they receive a supplementary required exam (OFA), which means that the student must fill any gaps in their background through specific activities organized by the University.

Admission with international qualification
Applicants with international qualification must have obtained a secondary school diploma after having completed at least 12 years of schooling. The preliminary evaluation of the qualification is mandatory. Procedures and deadlines are available on the dedicated online platform.

Course overview
The course offers a basic training with a historic-methodological approach (particularly linguistic, philological, literary and historic) focusing on the linguistic history and the figurative/literary culture of the ancient Mediterranean and Europe from Medieval times to the present day (with specific attention to the Italian rule and more generally the Romanic one).

The Bachelor’s Degree programme offers a basic training that guarantees students the foundation for pursuing postgraduate studies; furthermore, the acquired skills allow students to offer their professional collaboration to public and private bodies that deal with: professional training, digital and print publishing, communication and the evaluation of cultural heritage.

Examination assessment and graduation
Learning activities comprise taught courses, tests/seminars, workshop-based activities and internships; acquisition of competencies is tested by means of written and oral exams.

The degree exam consists in a writing a paper that will be evaluated by the supervisor on a theme of relevance to the contents of their studies (in the form of a critical re-examination of a problem, an annotated bibliography, a partial/complete critical edition or analysis of a text, a source or a historical/modern documentary corpus). The written exam will be in Italian except in special cases determined by the candidate with the supervisors and submitted to the Teaching Committee. No specific graphic presentation or number of lines is expected.
