This course is intended for graduates who have completed a three-year degree and are already knowledgeable and proficient in Chinese language and culture. It combines advanced Chinese language skills with knowledge of marketing, management, economics and law, specifically targeting contemporary issues. The course aims to train professionals to operate in companies, entities and institutions that have developed or are developing strategies for growth in China. Language learning focuses particularly on sector-specific terminology related to the economic and legal sphere, while the study plan as a whole is designed to deal with the growing internationalisation and globalisation of companies, entities and institutions. The course overall focuses on management practices and processes and on the increasingly global context in which businesses and institutions operate. Despite having a solid theoretical basis, the economic, legal and management skills are strictly linked to management and market scenarios in China.
Courses are taught in English, with the exception of language and IT lessons.
Business consultant for the Asian market
Graduates will mainly work as freelancers or for companies and business consulting agencies and Chambers of Commerce.
Specialist in the marketing of goods and services offered to the Chinese market
Graduates will be able to work in the sales/marketing departments of companies marketing goods and services that operate in China or with China.
Language consultant and interpreter during business negotiations with Chinese companies
“Language and Management in China” graduates will be able to work in the public or private sector, developing international business relations, as a freelancer or on behalf of agencies.
Translator of Chinese commercial or technical media
“Language and Management in China” graduates will be able to operate in the public or private sector, developing international economic relations, as a freelancer or on behalf of agencies.
Examination assessment and graduation
Course activity includes face-to-face lessons, laboratories and workshops during the two-year course. The final internship is compulsory and allows you to acquire extensive skills that can be applied in the workplace.
Throughout university the knowledge learned by the student will be verified through written and oral exams.
The final examination consists in writing a thesis on a topic agreed with the supervisor, including a preface in Chinese.
Students must then discuss their research or applied research in front of an examination board, which awards a final mark, to be added to the weighted average of the marks awarded during the course. This will be partially performed in Chinese, in order to demonstrate that students have and are able to apply the language skills expected upon graduating from the course.
Given the specific nature of this course, the thesis shall be written and discussed in English, with the exception of theses on linguistics/terminography, for which Italian is permitted. The topic discussed must be relevant to the disciplinary fields covered in the course.
The final examination for the master's degree course may also be based on students’ internship experiences.
