The degree course in Languages, Cultures and Societies of Asia and North Africa (LICSAAM) provides graduates with professional and cultural training focused on teaching a wide range of languages of East Asia and of Southeast Asia, the Near and Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent. Intermediate level of proficiency in one or two languages, depending on the study area, is combined with a solid knowledge of the culture and society of the relative countries, enabling students to gain a primary level of autonomy in the analysis and investigation of the respective cultural areas and to perform a critical comparison with the specific characteristics of the chosen area of study. The course also includes advanced study of English or the acquisition of basic skills in written and spoken French, as well as is the study of Italian literature as required by the degree class. Finally, graduates will be taught how to use with confidence the main IT and telematic tools related to the specific areas of language expertise.

The acquisition of language skills is organized in three year-long modules that progress chronologically. The course also includes an internship and final examination.
