Access to the programme
Limited admission, 77 places available

Quota reserved to non-EU students residing outside Italy: 5 seats, of which 1 are reserved for Chinese students living in China, under the Marco Polo Project.

Admission test: Linguistic-cultural and logic-aptitude tests. An understanding of B1-level English is expected, understanding of Italian grammar and general cultural, historical and geographical understanding of Spanish and Spanish-speaking countries.

Admission requirements
To access the course, a previous suitable background is required. Each curriculum requires specific knowledge, which the student should have before enrolling the university in order to attend the course successfully. This knowledge may be verified before enrolling.

If the result of the test is negative, the student can enroll, but they receive a supplementary required exam (OFA), which means that the student must fill any gaps in their background through specific activities organized by the University.

Admission with international qualification
Applicants with international qualification must have obtained a secondary school diploma after having completed at least 12 years of schooling. The preliminary evaluation of the qualification is mandatory. Procedures and deadlines are available on the dedicated online platform.
European applicants and non-European applicants with a permit of stay valid for enrolment must take the onsite admission test. Non-European applicants who need a visa for enrolment will take the admission test via Skype.

Course overview
The Degree Programme focuses on learning English and Spanish languages and cultures as well as interpreting techniques and strategies, in particular negotiation and translation. Classes on international law, business economics and cultural and institutional characteristics of English and Spanish speaking areas.

Occupational profiles
Bachelor's degree graduates may work as interpreters, experts of commercial relations with domestic and international markets, translators, tour guides, cultural mediators and linguistic mediators in schools.

Below are some sectors in which the Bachelor’s Degrees can provide a professional outcome:

Communication and Public Relations:

  • Responsible for public relations at Italian companies and businesses operating abroad
  • Responsible for public relations and embassies in Italy and abroad
  • Linguistic consultant
  • Responsible for communications for staff in multicultural contexts.

Linguistic and Cultural Intermediation:

  • Interpreter for negotiations in an economic or legal environment at international level
  • Translator for educational texts and characters
  • Linguistic mediator in a scholarly environment
  • Linguistic and cultural mediator for welcoming and including foreign subjects in Italy

Tourism and Hospitality:

  • Touristic guide (subordinate access on passing an exam for qualification announced by the Province)
  • Working in cultural tourism
  • Organizer of international conferences
  • Touristic programmer

Attendance
Attendance is compulsory for language, general linguistics, liaison interpreting and translation courses.

Examination assessment and graduation
The educational activities include classroom teaching, workshops and internships, in order to acquire wide-ranging skills that can be readily transferable into the world of work.
Knowledge acquired by students will be assessed through written and oral exams during the entire university career.
The degree exam consists in preparing a paper/thesis, evaluated according to methods similar to those of written exams but not in the presence of the student. The supervisor may require an oral discussion of the paper/thesis, in case they consider it to be necessary.
